To many of you, some of these "unspoken website commandments" are no-brainers, seemingly too obvious to bring up. Because we see these overlooked on a regular basis, we are including them here.

Be Easy to Read

  • For ecommerce sites, there should not be any hidden, hard to find, or last-second charges such as shipping; any tax info should be easy to find

  • Do not be tricky - if you seem to be tricky in one area, your entire message may be seen as misleading or worse.

  • Minimize, or better yet, avoid completely, the posting of ads (AdSense, banner ads, etc.)

  • Be consistent throughout the site.

  • Minimize the use of the word "but" - instead use "however," "although," etc.
